“On Nights Like These, Legends Are Born”

“On Nights Like These, Legends Are Born”

an interview with jasmine jimison

Principal Dancer Jasmine Jimison’s story began when she joined San Francisco Ballet School to train on a full-tuition scholarship, thanks in part to SF Ballet’s Annual Fund. Upon joining the Company as an apprentice in 2018 and corps de ballet member in 2019, she quickly rose the ranks, becoming a Principal Dancer after her debut in Marguerite in Armand in our 2023/24 Season. A few months later, Jasmine took on the challenging role of Swan Queen (with only two hours of notice!) in Helgi Tomasson’s Swan Lake after an injury prevented Natalia Osipova, Principal Dancer at the Royal Ballet in London, from performing as scheduled. It was an electrifying performance that no one in the audience would soon forget. “On nights like these,” Artistic Director Tamara Rojo remarked to the opening night crowd, “legends are born”.

Watch and learn about Jasmine’s story from student to Principal Dancer with insights from SF Ballet faculty Tina LeBlanc and Pascal Molat.
