Marius Petipa’s Raymonda is one of the great classical ballets, from which many iconic solo variations and pieces of choreography originate. San Francisco Ballet is honored to be presenting Artistic Director Tamara Rojo’s version of Raymonda during the 2024-25 season, and on Sunday February 23 San Francisco Ballet School will be holding three Repertory Classes. Join us to learn choreography from this important ballet!
Ages 12–16:
San Francisco Ballet School Faculty member Anne-Sophie Rodriguez will be teaching a character style warm up and selections of choreography from Raymonda. Students should bring a character skirt and character shoes.
Ages 15–19:
Students ages 15+ will learn a traditional variation from Raymonda. Students should bring pointe shoes, and may bring a ballet skirt if they would like.
Ages 18+:
Adults of all ages and dance levels are invited to learn character choreography from Raymonda. Students can bring a character skirt and character shoes, but these items are not required.
NOT A DANCER? COME WATCH!
Watching a class as a member of the audience offers an intimate, behind-the-scenes look at the rigor and craft of dance instruction while also providing a deeper connection to the production and art form itself.
*Please note: observers must register in advance. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Photography and videography are strictly prohibited inside the SF Ballet building.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 20, 2024 – MOCK AUDITION WORKSHOP
Experience the environment of an audition without the pressure of an outcome. There will be a 15-minute Question & Answer session immediately following the class.
Auditions are an important part of the ballet world and have their own set of associated skills. They can be scary experiences, but the stress of an audition can be lessened by becoming familiar with a facility and having an idea of what to expect. Whether or not a student is new to the experience of auditioning, they can learn skills that are applicable to summer intensive auditions, company auditions, and more!
This mock audition offers the opportunity to intermediate and advanced ballet students to:
- become familiar with the facilities at 455 Franklin St.
- attend class led by San Francisco Ballet School faculty with live accompaniment.
- experience having class with new peers.
Students will receive a number as if this were a real audition. San Francisco Ballet School faculty will sit at the front of the studio at a table as a mock panel of adjudicators. Observers are invited to attend the class and discussion.
