Jeffrey Budin

Biography

Currently, Principal Trombonist with San Francisco Ballet Orchestra, Jeffrey Budin has also held principal trombone positions for Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, Orquestra de la Ciutat de Barcelona, and Hawaii Symphony Orchestra. Budin has also performed with Los Angeles Philharmonic, St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, Empire Brass, and Summit Brass. In addition, he performs regularly with San Francisco Opera Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony, and St. Barts Music Festival and tours internationally with the Portland-based band Pink Martini.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Budin studied composition, arranging, film scoring, jazz improvisation, and trombone at Dick Grove School of Music and Northwestern University. He can be heard on numerous recordings with Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, and San Francisco Symphony as well as on many film soundtracks. His orchestral compositions have been performed by the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra, Delaware Symphony Orchestra, and the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra, and his jazz compositions have been performed at Monterey Jazz Festival.

His other interests include physics, string theory, yoga, throat singing, DNA, fractals, and harmony.
